Man Arrested After Trying to Kidnap Teenage Girl in Lakewood

Police have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to kidnap a girl in Lakewood Thursday night.

According to Lakewood Police, approximately 7:30 Thursday, a man, described as black or Hispanic, attempted to force a teenage girl into a white SUV. The girl was able to break free, forcing the perpetrator to flee. While searching the area with the assistance from members of Lakewood Shomrim, police learned that a second incident was reported in a neighboring town. It is unknown if the incidents are related.

The suspect was arrested overnight.

According to TheLakewoodScoop.com, the arrest came following a police chase, accident, and foot pursuit in Toms River.

His name and charges have not yet been released.
