Around 50 terrorists from Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group have been killed inside and around Gaza City’s Shifa Hospital, and around 300 were arrested, the IDF reported on Tuesday.

Among those targeted within the compound this week was Faiq Mabhuoh, the head of Hamas’s Operations Directorate for Internal Security. Mabhuoh, responsible for coordinating terrorist activities in Gaza, was eliminated in a room where numerous weapons were discovered.

The IDF stressed that no civilians or medical personnel have been harmed, nor has any medical equipment been damaged during the operation.

Among those arrested include dozens of prominent Hamas and PIJ terrorists, and people who worked in the information system and the rocket unit of PIJ.

The raid on Shifa Hospital, Gaza’s largest medical facility, occurred after Israeli intelligence indicated the presence of senior Hamas figures planning attacks within the compound. Hamas terrorists opened fire from the hospital premises as Israeli forces moved in.

According to Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, IDF spokesperson, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad have utilized 85% of Gaza’s hospitals for terrorist purposes.

The IDF first rooted out terrorists in Shifa in November, when intelligence led Israel to discover a large-scale terrorist operation there.

In a separate incident in December, Ahmed Kahlot, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, admitted to Israeli authorities that he and other staff members were affiliated with Hamas.

Kahlot revealed how Hamas exploited hospitals and ambulances to conceal operatives, launch attacks, transport terrorists, and even hold kidnapped Israeli soldiers.

Further reports indicate that Hamas terrorists have infiltrated the Palestinian Red Crescent Society to use hospitals as strategic bases for their activities.
