Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz has rebuffed claims made by the European Union’s foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, suggesting that the IDF are intentionally causing famine in Gaza. Katz asserts that Israel is facilitating extensive humanitarian aid into Gaza via various means, including land, air, and sea, for anyone willing to provide assistance.

In a statement, Katz emphasized Israel’s commitment to humanitarian aid efforts despite challenges posed by Hamas, citing instances where Hamas has violently disrupted aid convoys and collaborated with UNRWA. He urges Borrell to cease attacks against Israel and acknowledge its right to self-defense against Hamas’s actions.

Borrell’s remarks came during an EU meeting where he accused Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war, claiming that Israel is intentionally provoking famine in Gaza. Similar comments were reportedly made by Borrell at a recent session of the U.N. Security Council.

Israel’s response highlights a stark contrast in narratives regarding the situation in Gaza, with Israeli officials asserting their efforts to facilitate aid while rejecting accusations of deliberate harm against the Palestinian population.
