Cabinet Approves Akunis as Next Consul-General in NY

The Cabinet on Sunday approved the appointment of Ofir Akunis, the science and technology minister, as the upcoming consul-general in New York.
Following this decision, Gila Gamliel, whose Intelligence Ministry was recently closed down, will take over Akunis’s role as science and technology minister.
The consul-general position in New York has been vacant since March when Asaf Zamir resigned due to the government’s judicial reforms.
