The defense establishment is gearing up for the month of Ramadan, set to begin on Sunday night, with a focus on preventing a potential surge in terrorism in East Yerushalayim, Yehudah and Shomron, and within Israeli cities. There is heightened concern that Hamas will use this religious period to incite a widespread religious conflict against Israel and open new fronts.

Security officials anticipate challenges in maintaining stability, particularly as Hamas intensifies efforts to rally young Palestinians against the IDF, claiming that Israel is impinging on religious freedoms at Al-Aqsa Mosque. The fear is that clashes in Yerushalayim could escalate to Yehudah and Shomron and even extend to Israeli cities.

To counter potential threats, the defense establishment is investing significant resources in detecting and monitoring individuals who may be instigators of violence online. Measures include arrests of such individuals to prevent attacks, and since Oct. 7, dozens have been detained. The swift neutralization of terrorists after attacks also serves as a deterrent.

In response to the potential for “lone wolf attacks,” guidelines and regulations for soldiers serving in Yehudah and Shomron have been tightened by Central Command. While maintaining a high level of readiness, operational restrictions may be in place during Ramadan, with considerations for Muslim fasting hours.
