NJ Turnpike Authority Announces Toll Hike
By Matis Glenn
After a failed attempt in October, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority approved a 3% toll hike for both the Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway, reports FOX 5.
October’s plans were vetoed by Gov. Phil Murphy, but the governor’s office told FOX that he will not do so again.
Tolls will increase an average of 5 cents on the Garden State Parkway, and 15 cents on the Turnpike, but this will depend on where, and due to peak hour tolls on some bridges, when, drivers enter and exit the highways.
The fare hikes will kick in later this year.
The news comes days after NJ Transit announced its plans to raise train and bus fares by 15%.
