Vienna’s Jewish Cemetery Targeted in Arson Incident

In a disturbing incident, the Jewish section of Vienna’s central cemetery was subjected to a deliberate act of vandalism and arson. The despicable act occurred overnight Tuesday, leaving the local community and authorities deeply concerned about rising antisemitic activities in the area.

The targeted section of the cemetery, which dates back to 1917, holds significant historical and cultural importance as the final resting place for approximately 60,000 Jews. The arson took place near gate 4, where a fire was ignited, and swastikas were spray-painted on the exterior wall.

The Vienna Jewish community, as well as local authorities, have been quick to condemn this reprehensible act.

Investigations are underway to identify those responsible for this act and to ensure that they are brought to justice.
