Hamodia is saddened to report the sudden petirah of Harav Ezriel Bergman, zt”l, the son of ybl”c Harav Meir Tzvi Bergman, shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Rashbi in Bnei Brak.

Rav Ezriel, who was 70 years old, was known as a prominent talmid chacham who would speak in learning with many gedolei Torah.

He was named after his great grandfather, the father of Hagaon Harav Elazar Menachem Shach, zt”l. The Chazon Ish was the sandik at his bris.

Rav Meir Tzvi had just arrived in America to join the upcoming Adirei Hatorah event scheduled for Sunday evening in Philadelphia when he was notified of the passing of his son. After consulting with his personal physician, it was decided that he would not return for the levayah, which was held in Yeshivas Rashbi, and would begin sitting shivah in Lakewood before returning to Eretz Yisrael on Sunday.

Harav Malkiel Kotler, shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of Bais Medrash Govoha, was at Rav Bergman’s side while the levayah took place in Eretz Yisrael.

Kevurah took place in Elad.

Due to the situation, Rav Bergman will not be attending the Adirei Hatorah event this Sunday.

Yehi zichro baruch.
