The town of Yavne, located near Rechovot in central Israel, is set to expand significantly. The Israel Lands Administration (ILA) has approved a new plan that will add 12,500 homes to the town, in a new neighborhood to be built south of Nachal Soreq.

The neighborhood will include a new train station, a transportation network, community centers, schools, and shopping and business areas. According to the ILA, the area will also be a significantly “green” one, with large numbers of parks and open green spaces for residents.

Commenting on the plan, Adiel Shimron, head of the ILA, said that “the establishment of the new neighborhood will bring about a major change in Yavne, both in its housing stock and its economy. The plan will allow for major development of the area and significantly improve the local and national infrastructure.”
