Councilman Yeger Brings Smiles And Bike Helmets to Families
Some 2,000 bike helmets were given away on Sunday at the 18th Ave. Park, when Councilman Kalman Yeger teamed up with Vision Zero and the Department of Transportation to deliver the custom-fitted helmets to a line that stretched along the avenue.
“This is a fantastic event that brings families together and saves lives,” Yeger said. “Plus, it’s a perfect excuse to visit Gravesend Park, Boro Park’s very own nature sanctuary.”
The event’s robust turnout was due in part to the “Sunday Extravaganza!” put on by Nachas Health and Family Network, UnitedHealthcare, and Boro Park Shomrim. Families who came for a bike helmet were also able to partake in entertainment and amusement rides.
