Cuomo Announces ‘Genius Challenge’ to Renew the MTA

NEW YORK (AP) -

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced an international competition to revitalize New York City’s transit system, offering three $1 million prizes for the best ideas. Competitors who enter the “MTA Genius Transit Challenge” are being asked to come up with ideas that can be put into practice quickly and efficiently.

They’re being asked to look at making the signal system faster and more efficient; how to make subway cars better, and how to get cellular and WiFi connectivity in the entire system.
