An unsuspecting shopper at a Modi’in supermarket was bitten by a snake as he reached into a display of onions on Tuesday. The snake had been concealed in the onion bin.

A video clip of the incident was circulated afterwards showing market employees struggling to subdue the creature on the floor next to the vegetable bins, using brooms and dustpans.

The 22-year-old shopper was evacuated to the Terem Modi’in first-aid center for treatment. He was reported to be in moderate and stable condition. He was later transferred by MDA to Shaarei Tzedek hospital in Yerushalayim for further care.
