Christie Creates Chief Technology Officer Post
Gov. Chris Christie has established the Cabinet post of chief technology officer for New Jersey.
Christie on Monday announced that David Weinstein, one-time civilian U.S. Cyber Command official who now serves as New Jersey’s top information security officer, will lead the new Cabinet office.
Christie says the state’s current budget allocates $10 million for protecting the state’s systems from sophisticated cyberattacks.
Christie is giving Weinstein until Labor Day to get up to speed in the new role.
At that point, the Republican governor will look for an update on what specifically the state should do to protect against cyber threats and to bring the state’s systems in line with the private sector.
