Time Runs Correction, But No Apology

YERUSHALAYIM

Time Magazine has corrected a report on a Palestinian terrorist for which it was publicly accused of “humanizing the attacker” by the Israeli Government Press Office, The Times of Israel reported on Sunday.

The attacker, Baha Allyan, who killed three Israelis on a bus in Yerushalayim in October, was depicted as a victim of Israeli security forces who shot him down, making no mention of the people he had killed.

The magazine had ignored private complaints from the Israeli government for months.

Over the weekend, the magazine inserted a passage clarifying that Allyan had been shot after carrying out a deadly attack.

Time’s editors also added a statement at the end of the story, explaining that it had been updated “to give a fuller account of the attack.” However, no apology was forthcoming, as had been demanded by the GPO.
