Ailing Gray Seal Pup Has Been Rescued Off Beach

An ailing gray seal pup was rescued on Tuesday from a beach in Hampton Bays.
The one-month-old male was first seen Monday behind the Quantuck Beach Club. On Tuesday, a foundation biologist and two interns determined the pup was lethargic and underweight, and they rescued it.
The animal is being treated at the foundation’s Riverhead facility. The seals are federally protected and people should stay at least 150 feet from them.
