Official: More Sonic Booms in New Jersey From Flight Tests

BARNEGAT, N.J. (AP) —

Officials say the latest sonic booms along the New Jersey coastline are also due to military flight tests and training.

Reports of sonic booms shaking houses came in from Egg Harbor Township, Brigantine and Barnegat at approximately 1:45 p.m. Monday afternoon. Residents reported hearing loud booms as far away as Connecticut.

A spokeswoman for the Naval Air Station Patuxent River in Maryland told WNBC-TV it had flights over the Atlantic Ocean there around that time. She said other military aircraft were in the area as well.

No damage or injuries have been reported.

Last Thursday, an F-35C and F-18 from the naval air station were conducting supersonic testing off the coast in the same test track.
