Islamist Pleads Not Guilty to Firebombing Shul

PATERSON, N.J. (AP/Hamodia) —

An Islamist pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges that he threw lit firecrackers outside a Passaic shul while shouting “All-hu akbar.”

Rizek Musheisen, 21, of Clifton, entered the plea in state Superior Court. He faces two counts of bias intimidation.

Musheisen is accused of getting out of a car in front of the Ahavas Israel Synagogue shortly after Pesach ended, while the shul was still full, and lighting firecrackers while yelling the Arabic phrase.

Musheisen’s attorney, Harley Breite, says his client “is not a racist” and won’t consider a plea deal. Breite also questioned why the three other men in the car weren’t charged.
