(Hamodia Staff) —

The Breslover community Heichal Hakodesh mourned on Friday the petirah of their spiritual mentor, Harav Eliezer Shlomo Schick, zt”l, of Yavniel. Rav Schick, who led a community of Breslover Chassidim in the city of Yavniel in the upper Galil of Eretz Yisrael, was the son of Harav Menachem Zev Schick, Rav of Tokay, Hungary. He was born in 1940 in Hungary and after the war emigrated to Eretz Yisrael where he learned in Yeshiva Eitz Chaim. When he moved to America he learned in the Yeshiva of the Kashauer Rav, and Mesivta Tiferes Jerusalem.

In 1977 he founded the kehillah of Heichal Hakodesh d’Chassidei Breslov in Boro Park. In 1980 he founded a beis medrash in Tzfas; in 1985 he founded the kehillah of Yavniel.  He published numerous sefarim on Breslover Chassidus and countless kuntreisim. Hundreds came to hear his weekly shiurim. His kevurah was scheduled to take place Sunday night in Yavniel.

A longer tribute will appear, iy”H, in a future edition of Hamodia.
