A Republican political operative convicted of bilking former Mayor Michael Bloomberg out of hundreds of thousands of dollars on Monday lost his appeal to the state’s highest court, The Associated Press reported. John Haggerty was sentenced to four years for conning Bloomberg into putting up $1.2 million for an elaborate 2009 poll-monitoring effort.
