Times Editor Has Kidney Tumor Removed

NEW YORK -

New York Times Executive Editor Dean Baquet had successful surgery over the weekend to remove a malignant tumor from his kidney, he told staff in an email Monday, adding that he will spend about a week recovering before returning to the newsroom, The New York Times reported. Doctors discovered the tumor Thursday and felt it required “immediate attention.” The 57-year-old Baquet says doctors have given him “an excellent prognosis.”
