Deutsch Begins Novel Participatory Government Meeting

BROOKLYN (Hamodia Staff) —

Councilman Chaim Deutsch is launching a participatory government meeting, in which residents themselves decide on bills they want to see passed into law.

Deutsch’s meeting will be on Thursday at Cunningham JHS, at 1875 East 17th St. between avenues R and S in Homecrest, at 6:30 p.m. Constituents will have the opportunity to propose legislation in order to improve their quality of life.

“Residents living in my district deserve the opportunity to affect the laws that govern their lives,” Deutsch said in a press release.

At the public hearing, Deutsch will preside over a panel of community leaders, each representing one of the many diverse neighborhoods within his district. The councilman, a freshman Flatbush Democrat, will weigh the costs, benefits and overall feasibility of each suggestion.
