Escaping Suspect Runs Into Cops Conference

SARATOGA, N.Y. -

A would-be thief picked the wrong getaway route when he ran to a hotel where cops were attending a homeland security conference in Saratoga Springs, the Daily Gazette of Schenectady reported. Lois Celeste spotted a man going through her purse Wednesday inside her office. When she confronted him, he bolted from the building. Celeste and her co-worker chased the man, who ran toward the nearby Holiday Inn, where some of the 100 cops were taking a break outside. An Albany cop helped nab the 57-year-old man.
