NY to Fill in Food Stamp Cut by Feds
New York state is stepping in to preserve approximately $457 million a year in food stamp benefits that were to be cut by the recently enacted federal Farm Bill, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday. The food stamp program, or SNAP, gives an average of $127 per month for low income households in New York. This action by the state will save benefits for nearly 300,000 households.
