Voter Turnout a Record Low in NJ Governor’s Race
Voter turnout in Tuesday’s New Jersey gubernatorial came in under 40 percent, by far the lowest in a governor’s election since at least 1920.
Unofficial results show just over 2 million people cast votes out of 5.5 million eligible voters — or about 37 percent. The turnout number will rise as results from remaining precincts are reported. But it will remain far below the 47 percent mark four years ago that was a previous low.
