Council Ethics Chair Clears Self of Landlord Violations

NEW YORK -

A city councilwoman who owes the city more than a quarter of a million dollars in housing violation fines cleared herself from an ethics investigation — since she chairs the council ethics committee.

Inez Dickens, a Harlem Democrat, owns a property with 19 violations for which she was fined more than $265,000. But she will not be hauled before the Ethics Committee for an investigation since she chairs the panel.

Vince Morgan, who is challenging Dickens in the Democratic primary next month, slammed her rival, who, he said, “is held to a higher standard.”
