Yaalon Retaliates for EU Ban
Israel gave its answer on Thursday to the European Union ban on business over the Green Line — a halt to Defense Ministry cooperation with the EU.
Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon issued an order to cease joint projects with the EU in Yehudah and Shomron, according to The Jerusalem Post quoting the online news agency Walla.
According to the report, civilian projects such as the training of Palestinian police officers and waste-removal programs will be affected. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) has suspended issuance of entry permits to the Gaza Strip for EU officials and canceled bilateral work meetings.
“There is a slowdown in the work that we do with COGAT, and this is following a long period in which the cooperation between the two sides has been excellent,” a European official told Walla.
