NY Offering WIC Booklets for Farmers’ Markets
State officials say they are allocating $3.4 million to help low-income New Yorkers buy locally grown food at 470 farmers’ markets across the state.
The money for the Women, Infants and Children program is intended to increase access to healthy produce for more than 215,000 families. The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program checks are available at local WIC clinics starting this month. Each booklet contains six checks with a face value of $4 each.
