Twitter Co-Founder Eyes NYC Mayor’s Job

NEW YORK (AP/Hamodia) —

There may be another billionaire interested in New York City’s top job. Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter and the mobile payments startup Square, says he wants to be mayor of New York one day.

In a CBS interview, Dorsey said he is serious about moving to the Big Apple and running for mayor.

“What I love about New York is just the electricity I feel right away,” he said. “Just look at us in this station, there’s just people walking everywhere — it’s chaos. It’s kind of like being in a car in the middle of a thunderstorm. Everything is raging around you but you’re safe inside that car. So New York feels very much to me like that.”

In Forbes latest ranking of the 400 wealthiest Americans, Dorsey was at No. 392 and Mayor Michael Bloomberg is No. 10.

Dorsey reportedly asked Bloomberg in 2011 about a potential run. Bloomberg’s advice: first earn a lot of money.
