1 Dead, 1 Injured in Fall Through Ice on NJ Lake

BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. (AP) —

One man is dead and another was injured after falling into the icy waters of a private community lake in northern New Jersey where the two were fishing.

Authorities say 52-year-old Frank Ferrell of Ringwood was pronounced dead soon after being transported to a local hospital.

Police say 49-year-old Theodore Andreniuk of West Milford remains hospitalized in fair condition.

The Record of Woodland Park reports the men apparently fell through the ice on Lake Iosco in Bloomingdale around noon Tuesday.

Bloomingdale Police Chief Joseph Borell tells the newspaper that Ferrell was completely submerged and underneath ice when authorities arrived.

He was unconscious when rescuers pulled him out.

Neighbors and friends tell the newspaper the married father of four worked for the Wanaque public works department for 25 years.
