U.N. Staff Member on Golan Heights Missing

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) —

A staff member of a U.N. peacekeeping force in the demilitarized Golan Heights zone between Syria and Israel has gone missing, the United Nations said on Monday.

The missing staffer is a Canadian legal adviser to the U.N. commander on the Golan, a source who says he met with the missing man told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

“We can confirm that a staff member is not accounted for and we are in touch with the relevant parties to determine what has happened,” U.N. spokesman Farhan Haq said. “We have no further comment at this time.”
