Fatal Crash in Lincoln Tunnel Snarls Morning Commute
WEEHAWKEN, N.J. – A fatal motorcycle accident in the Lincoln Tunnel early Wednesday morning snarled morning rush hour in and out of New York City, The Associated Press reported. A 23-year-old female from Brooklyn died. The tube reopened around 6:30 a.m. but delays continued for hours.
NJ Town’s Website Hacked 8 Times This Month
HARRISON, N.J. – Harrison Township’s website was hacked eight times this month, the Jersey Journal reported. The site doesn’t contain private data and it’s unclear why it is being targeted. The company managing the website says the hackers are highly intelligent.
Baaaaad! Ornamental Sheep Taken From Senior Center
MIDDLETOWN, N.J. – An assisted living facility wants its sheep back, The Associated Press reported. Maise, a 300-pound ornamental sheep, disappeared from the front lawn of Arbor Terrace where it stood with four other sheep ornaments. The center is offering a $50 reward for its recovery.
West Indian Day Festival Getting Boosted Security
BROOKLYN – A year after the shooting death of an aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo a big celebration is getting extra security, The Associated Press reported. The pre-dawn prelude to the West Indian Day Parade attracts 250,000 people. The NYPD is doubling its presence and installing 200 floodlights.
Man Gets 20 Years to Life For Shooting at 2 Cops
NEW YORK – A former soldier who disguised himself with a fake beard and shot at two NYPD officers in 2011 was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years to life in prison, The Associated Press reported. The officers, who weren’t injured, approached Antonio Olmeda, 57, after a bystander said he looked suspicious.
Woman Drowns in Backyard Pool on Long Island
MILLER PLACE, N.Y. – In a tragic incident Tuesday night, a woman drowned in her backyard pool on Long Island, The Associated Press reported. A family member found Erin Attard, 54, unresponsive. Police do not suspect foul play.
