Your coverage of the petirah of the Novominsker Rebbe, zt”l, was unparalleled.
During the intifada, in which so many of our acheinu bnei Yisrael were losing their lives, R”l, the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah was asked whether, perhaps, they should compose a new, special, beseeching tefillah to the Ribbono shel Olam as a result of these tragedies.
The Novominsker Rebbe responded that no new tefillah was needed; instead, we should implore Klal Yisrael to have more kavanah (concentration) while reciting the Monday/Thursday tachanun prayer.
This past Monday, as we recited this longer version of tachanun for the first time in almost five weeks, and I reached the phrase, “v’hasar memenu makkas mamoves/hamageifah (Remove from our midst the plague of death /epidemic),” I thought of the Novominsker Rebbe’s words and finally understood.
His loss is unfathomable.
