As someone who avoids reading non-frum media, I found the quote on the bottom left of page 24 (OverHeard,” March 6, 2019), which referred to someone who held a family captive in their home, jarring. In my opinion, it serves no purpose – other than to desensitize eidele Yiddishe neshamos.
I understand the need for material related to politicians, as Hamodia readers have reason to stay informed. However, the frum media, with Hamodia at its head, has studiously avoided stories of bloodshed/cruelty, sometimes even when it might be important to know. The reason for this is to stay far away from the slippery slope into which the secular media has descended – that of “enjoying” reading about cruelty.
