Dust From North Africa Spikes Pollution Levels

The Health Ministry and Environment Ministry issued an advisory alerting the public to extremely high levels of air pollution across the country Thursday, attributed to dust carried from North Africa. The air quality is expected to improve significantly by this evening.

Due to the hazardous air quality, individuals at greater health risk — such as those with heart or lung conditions, the elderly, children, and expectant women — were advised to avoid outdoor physical activities. The general public is also encouraged to minimize time spent outdoors as much as possible.
