Forty-seven people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation early Monday morning following a suspected arson incident in Bnei Brak.

The fire, which ignited several motorcycles parked outside a five-story residential building, led to widespread smoke exposure among the inhabitants.

Most of the affected residents sustained light injuries, although one person, a man in his twenties, was reported to be in moderate condition due to respiratory issues.

Paramedics Inbar Green and Issachar Weiss from Magen David Adom described the scene: “Upon arrival, we encountered heavy smoke in the building’s courtyard, which had spread into the apartments and stairwell. We evacuated men, women, and children, provided medical treatment on-site, and performed initial triage. The man needing respiratory support was given immediate care before being transported to the hospital. Forty-six others were also evacuated for treatment of smoke inhalation symptoms.”
