The IDF said it conducted a precision operation targeting Hamas in the Nuseirat region of the central Gaza Strip, marking the first ground troop engagement in this area amidst the current war.

The operation, involving forces from the 162nd Division’s 401st Armored Brigade, Nachal Infantry Brigade, and additional units, was initiated following comprehensive intelligence reports highlighting significant terrorist activity and infrastructure within the vicinity.

Preceding the ground maneuver, the Israeli Air Force alongside the 215th Artillery Regiment executed aerial and artillery strikes targeting numerous Hamas positions, focusing on tunnel networks.

During the overnight operation, Nachal Brigade soldiers identified and neutralized a terrorist emerging from a tunnel, aiming to confront the IDF forces. This was achieved with precision air support.

Furthermore, the 401st Brigade successfully uncovered and neutralized multiple rocket launch sites in the region, contributing to the mission’s objectives.

In coordination with the ground operation, the IDF Naval forces conducted strategic strikes along Gaza’s coastal area, providing critical support to the ground forces engaged in the operation.
