Authorities Confirm Drone Incursion Into Jordan Near Eilat

By Yoni Weiss

Israeli authorities verified on Tuesday that a drone landed in an area of Jordan approximately 200 meters from the Israeli border near Eilat.

The origin of the drone remains unclear. However, there have been recent incidents involving Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen launching missiles and drones toward southern Israel. On Monday, a drone believed to be launched from Iraq struck an Israeli naval base in Eilat, with a coalition of Iran-backed militias known as the Islamic Resistance of Iraq claiming responsibility.

Initial reports suggesting that the Ilan and Asaf Ramon Airport was targeted have been denied by the Israel Airports Authority. The IDF stated that they are conducting an investigation into the matter.

Since Oct. 19, 2023, the Iran-backed Houthis have launched several missiles and drones toward Israel. However, all of these attempts have either been intercepted by Israeli air defense systems, intercepted by U.S. naval forces in the Red Sea, or failed to breach Israeli airspace.
