Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is conscious and recuperating following hernia surgery, as confirmed by Hadassah Medical Center-Ein Kerem on Monday morning.

In a video statement released by the hospital, Professor Alon Pikarsky, the director of general surgery, confirmed the success of the operation and mentioned that Netanyahu was communicating with his family.

“His condition is excellent,” Pikarsky stated.

The Prime Minister’s Office reported that the hernia was detected during a routine medical examination. The hospital further disclosed that a cardiologist was part of the surgical team. Netanyahu, 74, underwent the insertion of a pacemaker in July after medical professionals identified an irregularity in his heartbeat.

During Netanyahu’s surgery under general anesthesia, Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Yariv Levin fulfilled the duties of acting prime minister.
