Two teenagers armed with weapons were arrested Sunday afternoon for allegedly trying to steal a moped used by a delivery worker at a Boro Park restaurant, according to Shomrim.

The incident occurred on 13th Avenue and 54th Street at around 6:15 p.m., when Shomrim members noticed the pair acting suspiciously. “They were walking down the street in Spring weather with their faces covered,” Motty Braunner, coordinator for Boro Park Shomrim told Hamodia. “They were walking back and forth around the restaurant, staking out the place. We followed them and caught them when they began their attempted robbery.”

When approached by a Shomrim member, one suspect initially drew a knife, but ran away, together with two other suspects.

Two suspects were apprehended by Shomrim until police came and arrested them minutes later; a third man escaped.

The suspects were found to have possessed a gun, machete, and a pocket knife. Police have not yet determined the exact nature of the firearm.
