Hamas Executes Gaza Sheikh Over Alleged Collaboration With Israel

According to media reports on Thursday, Hamas carried out the execution of the sheikh of a local clan in the Gaza Strip, accusing him of collaborating with Israel.

The incident, as reported by Yisrael Hayom, involved the arrest and subsequent execution of the leader of the Doghmush clan by Hamas members in Gaza City’s Family Court.

Allegations against the sheikh included orchestrating the theft of humanitarian aid intended for Gaza’s civilians, which was then purportedly sold for personal gain. Additionally, members of his clan were accused of maintaining connections with Israeli authorities.

While Hamas has not issued an official statement regarding the execution, Yisrael Hayom suggests that if the reports are accurate, it indicates Hamas has reasserted control over the northern regions of Gaza, which were vacated by the Israeli army during previous conflicts.

The execution is seen as a warning to other tribal leaders against aiding Israel in governing Gaza, especially as the IDF’s significant operations in the region are nearing conclusion.

During the early stages of the war, the Gazan Health Ministry, under Hamas control, reported numerous casualties among the Doghmush clan due to Israeli airstrikes. Some members of the clan have been associated with various terrorist organizations in the past, with one individual involved in the abduction of Gilad Shalit in 2005.
