Broad Daylight Assault Leaves Jewish Woman Injured in Crown Heights

By Matis Glenn

An Orthodox Jewish woman was assaulted while walking in Crown Heights Friday morning, according to Shomrim.

The victim was standing on a street in the vicinity of Lefferts Boulevard and Troy Avenue, when the suspect approached her and punched her in the face, without an exchange of words. The suspect walked away, and entered a nearby bodega, whereupon witnesses called Shomrim.

The victim was treated by Hatzalah members for bruises to her face, and was brought to a local hospital where she received additional treatment in an outpatient clinic.

A Shomrim member arrived at the scene 30 seconds after receiving the call and gave chase to the suspect, who ran down Lefferts Boulevard towards Schenectady Avenue.

“He had a advantage of about 12 seconds on me,” the Shomrim member told Hamodia. Eventually the suspect escaped. Ten Shomrim units were dispatched and canvassed the area for over 40 minutes.
