Reserve Brigade Demolishes Strategic Hamas Tunnel Network

By Yoni Weiss

During recent operations, the IDF’s 646th Reserve Brigade successfully eliminated a strategically important underground Hamas tunnel connecting northern and southern Gaza. On Monday, the IDF released footage recovered from one tunnel, revealing the kidnapping of the Bibas family during the early days of the war. Another tunnel yielded footage of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar fleeing with his family, which was released last week.

The brigade concluded its mission in Gaza last week.

Colonel Elad Shushan, the commanding officer of the 646th Reserve Brigade, declared that they reached every hideout in both above and below-ground locations in the Gaza Strip. The IDF emphasized that terrorists now understand there is no secure hiding place, and their fate is sealed.

Throughout their operations, the brigade’s combat team not only destroyed the crucial Hamas tunnel but also eliminated numerous terrorists and discovered weapons. Initially targeting terror locations in central Gaza, including el-Bureij, Nuseirat, and the “Towers” neighborhood, the brigade later shifted its focus to southern Gaza and the Khan Yunis area.

In the Abasan area, the brigade executed an operation resulting in the elimination of numerous terrorists, the seizure of a substantial quantity of weapons, and the apprehension of dozens of terrorists hidden among civilian populations, as reported by the IDF.
