Bomb Threat on Newark Bound Plane Proves False

A plane headed to Newark Liberty International Airport from Nova Scotia, Canada, received a threat midflight on Monday, according to officials.
As Air Canada flight 8657, which took off from Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Canada around 11 a.m., approached its intended landing at Newark Liberty International Airport at 12:10 p.m., a bomb threat was received by Newark Airport Police at noon. The plane eventually landed around 1:40 p.m. at Terminal A, and all passengers deplaned without incident.
The Port Authority Police Department and its canine unit cleared the plane around 3 p.m. before it was released to continue normal operations, officials said.
At 2:52 p.m., the Port Authority Police Department and its canine unit fully cleared the aircraft and normal operations have resumed.
Officials said the incident is currently under investigation.
