BD’E — Skverer Rebbetzin, A”h

NEW YORKHamodia is saddened to report the petirah of the Skverer Rebbitzen, Rebbetzin Chaya Chana Twersky, a”h, the wife of, ybl”c, the Skvere Rebbe, shlita. The Rebbetzin had been ill for a while, and her health deteriorated recently. She was 81 years old.

The Rebbetzin was the oldest daughter of the Vishnitzer Rebbe of Bnei Brak, Harav Moshe Yehoshua Hager, the Yeshuos Moshe, zy”a. She grew up under the influence of her illustrious zeide, Harav Chaim Meyer, zy”a, the Imrei Chaim.

The Rebbetzin was the sister of the Vizhnitzer Rebbe, Harav Yisrael, shlita, and the Vizhnitzer Rebbe, Harav Mendel, shlita, and her sisters include Rebbetzin Sora Rokeach, Belzer Rebbetzin; Rebbetzin Sosha Teitelbaum, Satmar Rebbetzin; and Rebbetzin Hinda Ernster.

She was a devoted mother to her four sons and three daughters, one of whom, the Zhviller Rebbetzin, a”h, predeceased her.

The Rebbetzin stood by her husband, the Rebbe, shlita, and supported him in all aspects of his leadership. She was very knowledgeable, and at times spoke publicly to the women of Skver, and would also speak when she accompanied the Rebbe on various trips.

In New Square, she was a central figure who was very involved with the residents, connecting and caring for all the families in the town, never holding herself aloof. She was known as an extraordinary hostess for the myriad guests who visited Skver on a consistent basis.

The levayah took place in New Square at 8:00 p.m..
