Israeli soldiers identified and arrested 20 terrorists who were hiding inside Khan Yunis’ Al-Amal hospital, the army said Sunday.

Following intelligence reports that Hamas terrorists were using the hospital, special forces, including soldiers from the Givati Infantry Brigade and the Navy’s Shayetet 13 commando unit began operating in the area surrounding the hospital.

The terrorists were arrested and brought in for questioning. The operation was carried out without harming medical staff or patients, the army said, adding that the army coordinated the raid with hospital staff.

No shots were fired during the arrests, which the army describes as being carried out in an “accurate and selective way,” allowing the hospital to function as usual.

IDF troops were briefed on “the importance of preventing harm to patients, medical staff, civilians, and medical equipment, in accordance with international law,” the army said in a statement.

“This operation once again proves the cynical modus operandi of the Hamas terror organization, which uses hospitals and the civilian population to hide terrorists,” the statement continued.
