After going 700 days without any accumulation of snow in New York City, the metropolitan area is expecting another storm with a predicted 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation.

The National Weather Service forecast snow beginning to fall around 5:00 a.m. Friday morning, January 19, and continuing through the afternoon and tapering off by 10:00 p.m. Saturday evening. The storm will cause limited visibility and may impact the afternoon home commute.

Temperatures will be in the upper 20s to low 30s degrees and will remain near the freezing mark through Sunday night. The wind chill will make it feel below zero in the evenings, and in the single digits in the morning.

Alternate-side parking will be suspended on Friday, January 19, due to the storm, but meters will still be in effect.
