Over 50 Pro-Palestinian Protestors Arrested After Occupying Senate Office Building
By Matis Glenn
Fifty-one pro-Palestinian protestors were arrested Monday morning after occupying a U.S. Senate office building and throwing dollar bills covered in fake blood, the New York Post reports, citing police.
“Cease-fire now! Cease-fire now!” protesters shouted in the Hart Senate Office building in the Capitol. One protestor climbed a tall sculpture in the building, requiring firefighters to bring in a ladder and order him to come down. He refused, and was taken into police custody for resisting arrest, along with another woman. The remaining 49 protestors were arrested for unlawful crowding, obstructing or incommoding.
“Anti-Israel protestors making a mess of the Senate,” Sen. Thom Tillis(R-NC) wrote on social media, referring to the stained dollar bills strewn on the floor. “I’m sure they’ll change hearts and minds by making hardworking Senate custodial workers spend their entire day cleaning up the mess they created,”
“Thank you to Capitol Police and the Senate facility staff for upholding professionalism in the midst of such clownery,” he added.
