Emotional Candle Lighting at the Home of Eden Liz Ohayon, Hy”d, Who Was Murdered on Simchas Torah

YERUSHALAYIM

Members of the Chessed Chaim V’Emes organization, who have been accompanying hundreds of families since the terror attack where their loved ones were murdered on Simchas Torah, lit the first light of Chanukah on Thursday night at the home of Eden Liz Ohayon, Hy”d, who was murdered in Re’im. The organization members lit the menorah together with Iris, the bereaved mother, and her three children, bringing them some joy during this difficult time.

Ahead of Chanukah, dozens of volunteers visited the homes of hundreds of families who lost their loved ones in the attacks, presenting them with a menorah and a picture of the fallen. The families were deeply moved by the tribute, stating, “You were with us during the difficult hour, and you continue to be with us today, even two months later.”

Dror David Amos, the head of Chessed Chaim V’Emes, said that it is a great privilege to light the first light of Chanukah together with the families: “We promised the families that we won’t leave them, and that’s what we are doing.”

Since the terror attack on Simchas Torah, the Chessed Chaim V’Emes organization, which routinely supports bereaved families throughout the country, has been supporting more than 700 families of civilians, including entire communities. One of the first actions taken by the organization was setting up mourning tents for families from Kfar Aza who moved to live in Kibbutz Shapirim. Additionally, dozens of organization members met with, comforted, and supported hundreds of families in their homes during the shivah and sheloshim, helping them through this difficult mourning period.
