Young Jewish Man Assaulted In Unprovoked Attack in Crown Heights

(CrownHeights.info) – An identifiably Jewish young man walking in Crown Heights Wednesday afternoon was viciously assaulted by a male in an unprovoked assault.

According to reports, the victim had been walking on Brooklyn Avenue near Lincoln Place at around 3:30pm while pulling a suitcase behind him and holding a bag. Without warning or provocation, he was suddenly approached by a man who assaulted him.

Footage obtained by Crown Heights Shomrim shows the suspect apparently laying in wait for the victim near the corner of Brooklyn Avenue and Lincoln Place. As the young Jewish man approaches the corner, the suspect is seen punching him. The victim fled, but the assailant proceeded to hit him, eventually knocking him to the ground.

Police were called immediately and they canvassed the area to locate the assailant. Unfortunately, he has yet to have been found.

Crown Heights Shomrim were called hours later and a search for video camera footage uncovered multiple angles of the incident giving important clues for the detectives.

“This perpetrator committed an unprovoked vicious assault on Brooklyn Ave in the afternoon hours,” Crown Heights Shomrim wrote on social media following the incident. “The police were called and canvassed for the perp[etrator], but he got away. Shomrim was not called in the immediate aftermath of the incident. If you see him, please call Shomrim at 7187743333.”
