Shomrim Assist in Arrest of Suspect in Williamsburg Purse Snatching

Williamsburg Shomrim assisted the NYPD in arresting a suspected purse snatcher who grabbed a woman’s pocket book at approximately 5:00 p.m. at Flushing Avenue and the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Williamsburg.
According to a member of Shomrim with knowledge of the case, the suspect, who has not yet been named by the police, has been arrested previously similar robberies.
Over the past two days, there has been a rash of purse snatchings from Jewish women in Williamsburg, with five cases reported to Shomrim in the past 36 hours.
The suspect in today’s arrest is not responsible for all of the thefts, and there is an ongoing police investigation in the other robberies.
